Niche finds an ordinary and unremarkable couple on their honest search for a place called ‘home.’ Boy meets girl and one thing follows the next. An unsettling group of passersby, vintage technology, innovative movement and text bring the situation into focus, with the couple finding success and comfort without involvement. Vintage technology and recycled materials from UpCycle, an Alexandria-based creative reuse center, add a caricature essence to hand made cut outs and transparencies that are projected with an ‘old school’ overhead projector. Dance and text is joined with live music for banjo and guitar by Mark Sylvester with additional music by the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra.
